The Doge Palace and the Church of St. Mark in Venice, Italy – masterpieces of Venetian architecture
April 2, 2008 on 11:22 am | In Venice | No CommentsThe Doge Palace incorporates the whole glorious history of the Venetian Republic. Little is known about its origins and architects. It is assumed that the Doges Angelo Partecipazio und Giustianio Partecipazio made this magnificent palace the Doges´ headquarter and official residence towards the end of the 9th Century. No evidence has remained from the original construction.
In its present form the palace largely dates back to 1340. The architects Filippo Calendario and Pietro Baseio were charged with its construction.

March 28, 2008 on 9:01 am | In Sevilla | No CommentsClose your eyes and try to imagine Seville in late September. Can you feel what it’s like? I found it out during a spontaneous two weeks backpacking tour in 2002 – and it made me still want more.
The air is drenched with the sweet and exhilarating, warm summer night smell of blossoming jasmine, acacia, orange trees, roses, oleander and bougainvillea. The sound of ska, reggae, flamenco and latin music comes out of the bars. You can hear all kinds of languages in the streets. It is hot and even at night it is too warm to sleep.
The city is under a constant tension and, just like a sleeping
beauty, waits to be awakened.
