Amsterdam Selected As Location for WCIT 2010
WCIT 2008 Hits the Ground Running in Austin
Over 300 participants from Malaysia attended WCIT 2006 in Austin Texas (May 1-5, 2006), headed by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (above, right). The Prime Minister delivered the closing remarks on May 5 and witnessed the Crystal Handover Ceremony by WITSA Chairman George Newstrom to the host of WCIT2008. Chairman of WCIT 2008 Pte Ltd Badlisham Ghazali and Lee Boon Kok, Chairman of the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM), received the Crystal as a symbolic gesture of Malaysia being the next WCIT host in 2008.
GPPC 2005 - Executive Summary Report The Executive Summary Report from the September 13-15, 2005, Global Public Policy Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is available here. GPPC 2005 was indeed a success for Malaysia and for WITSA, with 412 participants from 24 countries; out of which 110 were foreign participants. Some of the issues that were highlighted at GPPC 2005 were Internet Governance; Discussion on Key Challenges to Governments; Expectations and Challenges in Engaging Government Globally; ICT; Trade and Competitiveness; Digital Divide; business related tracks; eGovernment; Outsourcing and Electronic Communications. |

Association WITSA member profile provides an overview of its

WITSA's Steering Committee
and Public Policy Committee meetings will be hosted by the
Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA) on October
26-28, 2006.
Many delegates from European, Asian, African & American
countries will attend, as well as Lebanese politicians and
different actors from the ICT sector. We anticipate that up to 50
association executives will attend the WITSA meetings in Lebanon
this fall, with a view that some will travel to Athens the
following week to attend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF)
inaugural meeting there.

The XVth World Congress on IT concluded successfully on May 5, 2006, in Austin, Texas. With record-breaking attendance at over 2,100 from more than 80 countries, WCIT 2006 was the most successful and largest endeavor in WITSA's 28 years of existence.
